9 fancy set lunch menus to try in Singapore

There’s nothing quite like a fancy lunch to banish the midweek blues, especially if you’re looking for a change of pace from the usual packed lunches or takeaways. Want to treat yourself to a fine selection of sushi or maybe something more unconventional like a laksa risotto? Here’s our lineup of the best restaurants in Singapore with great executive set lunch offers.

1. 665°F

Perched on the 38th floor of Andaz Singapore, 665°F is an upscale steakhouse that offers prime cuts of beef along with a selection of sustainable seafood. Their four-course lunch tasting menu ($98++) begins with a dainty amuse bouche followed by smoked burratini with blistered cherry tomatoes, toasted pistachio and aged balsamic vinegar. A richly flavoured lobster bisque with rouille, cognac, tarragon and croutons follows next. For mains, choose between Cape Grim beef tenderloin or Patagonian toothfish served with mashed potato, house onion rings and a trio of pepper sauces. End things on a sweet note with a Basque cheesecake with honeycomb and rhubarb jam. If you’re an oenophile, you’ll also want to visit The Cellar, a new concept within the restaurant that offers an extensive winelist.

2. TWG Tea

TWG Tea offers two set lunch menus featuring fascinating tea-infused offerings that tease the palate. Choose a main course paired with either hot or iced tea (S$29++) and you have an option to add on a dessert (additional S$6). For the week of 13 to 17 August 2022, mains include beef cheeks slow-braised in a rich red wine sauce with a green tea infused potato mash; and an artisanal laksa risotto served with Hokkaido scallops and earl grey-infused tiger prawns with beancurd skin croutons, lemon balm cress and a sprinkle of golden lung ching tea leaves or a lemon tartelette with a vanilla bourbon tea-infused mascarpone chantilly cream. 3. Gordon Grill, Goodwood Park Hotel

An elegant steakhouse in the Orchard Road area, Gordon Grill at the Goodwood Park Hotel has been serving fine steaks and continental cuisine since 1963. For efficient and elegant lunches, there’s a Big-on-Small lunch menu of three- (S$68++) and four courses (S$78++) where several signature dishes can be sampled. Tuck into posh appetisers such as the duck foie gras with cherry compote, apple and raspberry sorbet, and classic mains such as the US beef tenderloin with potato gratin, asparagus and couscous. The dessert course is a sample platter of two items of your choice, which includes a lingonberries crumble tart with vanilla ice cream, plus coffee or tea. Those opting for the four-course meal will enjoy the addition of a trio of Gordon Grill’s signature soups: lobster bisque, cream of mushroom, and soupe du jour.

4. Tablescape

A fine menu of European classics with a modern twist and old-world charm await at Tablescape – a great choice for a meal in the City Hall area. A three-course set lunch (S$39++) awaits diners, with dishes that showcase Executive chef Armando Aristarco’s “flavour first” take on classic European dishes. For example, the hot starter, Egg, is a 62-degree cooked egg served with lentil purée and shaved Italian black truffles in a fondue of aged Parmigiano Reggiano (24 months). A highlight of any meal at Tablescape is the gueridon service, where a variety of fresh bread and butter (both made in-house) are served tableside on a trolley. Expect attentive but non-intrusive service and a lunch menu that changes monthly and features items that are not available on the regular a la carte menu.

Both menus are inspired by modern bistro fair but feature plant-based meat alternatives. Mains include the Impossible bolognese with pappardelle pasta and and Impossible beef sauce finished with freshly grated parmesan cheese. For a low-carb option, opt for the cauliflower risotto which replaces rice for finely chopped cauliflower and features a velvety cream, potato and pea sauce. If you’re in the mood for seafood, there’s also a Cajun-style Shrimp Po Boy made with battered shrimp and herbed sriracha tartar sauce. Round things off with their new chocolate chia seed pudding for dessert.
