Hotels in Singapore that offer unique experiences

Oakwood Premier Mobile Club Lounge hotel unique experiences
Get personalised drinks and delicious bites from this convenient mobile bar service

1. Drinks on wheels at Oakwood Premier AMTD Singapore

Instead of leaving your room to grab a nightcap at the club lounge, Oakwood Premier AMTD Singapore, a luxury serviced apartment operation, which also offers short-term stays, brings the club lounge experience to you.

Its newly launched Mobile Bar service has a bartender wheeling a liquor trolley well stocked with spirits, garnishes and the like to your doorstep. He parks the trolley and mixes your choice from a list of signature drinks in your presence and offers you delicious canapes from a rotational menu.

Drinks can be personalised too – just ask the friendly mixologist to surprise you (remember to share your preference for a sweet or dry tipple and whether you like things fruity) and watch him mix it up before your eyes. Afterwards, the bartender takes his leave until you ask for him again – and again.

Available from 7pm to 10pm daily, the Club Room Package comes with the Mobile Bar service. You can also add it to any existing apartment reservation for S$55++ per person per night.

2. Facial recognition app at Grand Park City Hall

As part of its sustainability efforts, Grand Park City Hall‘s new application is an innovative tool aimed at reducing the use of plastic key cards and paper. Very impressive is its ability to allow guests to skip the queue at the front desk when checking in. Simply take a selfie with the app. Once it’s verified, you’ll get a digital key, also on the app.

The process, according to the hotel, takes just one minute – after you’ve registered your details with the app and logged into the hotel’s WIFI network. The app doubles as an in-room electronic controller of amenities, such as lighting, the TV and air-conditioning, too.

Moreover, the app gives you direct access to hotel staff. You can message the concierge, make service requests and check out.

Equipped with Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping (SLAM) technology, they navigate the hotel autonomously, delivering amenities directly to rooms, handling luggage and avoiding people or obstacles along the way.

Here’s what could be a first for you: try having a conversation with them. Yoshi and Yolanda have voices, personalities and “faces”, and are known to belt out a song or two with gusto. In line with its focus on smart technology, Yotel has also replaced the traditional front desk with self-service check-in kiosks, and its adjustable beds easily convert into sofas at the press of a button.

6. Barrel your own cocktail at Regent Singapore

How many people can say I have barrelled my favourite tipple, be it a single cask Manhattan, Negroni or El Presidente? Well, you and at least seven of your coolest friends-cum-drinking buddies can give it your best shot for $3,990++.

The barrelling takes place at the world’s first miniature in-hotel rickhouse at Manhattan at Regent Singapore. A rickhouse refers to a whisky-ageing warehouse where you’ll see barrel after barrel stacked on racks. Nibble on bar bites and sip on your star pour as you are guided by experienced members of the Manhattan bar team through the barrel-ageing process. The barrel’s capacity can fill up to 10 bottles. Once aged, the cocktail will be waxed and sealed, and the bar will get in touch with you to have them picked up.
