1. Sri Mariamman Temple
Admire the oldest Hindu temple in Singapore, dating back to 1827, and its five-tier gopuram (entrance tower). If you’re lucky, you might catch Theemithi, the famous Hindu firewalking ceremony, which takes place on 20 October this year.
2. Tekka Centre
This hawker centre and wet market has a dazzling collection of South Indian and Indian Muslim food. Try classics such as masala tea, crispy thosai and briyani. Some of the best stalls are located on the complex’s first floor, facing Bukit Timah Road.
3. Jothi Store & Flower Shop
This store is located along Serangoon Road. You can pick up one of their fragrant jasmine garlands or other prayer items, and savour the floral aroma characteristic of the area.
